I had an item on the DVD TODO list for a while about normalising audio volume across the various recordings. I'm now trying to get that done. I extracted the audio streams from each of them and used normalize-audio to find the average and peak volumes. Since the average-to-peak difference for virtually all the recordings is no more than 16 dB, I calculated a volume adjustment for each that would either make its average volume -16 dB or, where that would result in clipping or compression of the peak, that would make the peak volume 0 dB. I am now applying adjustments that aren't very close to zero. I am attaching a Gnumeric spreadsheet that shows the calculations. -- Ben Hutchings I haven't lost my mind; it's backed up on tape somewhere.
