I proposed something similar:

  https://summit.debconf.org/debconf14/meeting/49/debconf-first-timers-session/

(inspired by the venerable pre-conf session to LCA by Rusty)

Unfortunately, the talks team rejected it, saying:

This info should be given during the opening talk, and possibly
follow up with coordination and training meetings during free
time. There is also an accepted talk about volunteer recruiting,
so you can try to merge with that

I find this a shame, especially since my proposal was to have this
*before* the opening.

In any case, we can just organise it ourselves without the schedule.
I am also available for this, Enrico. What do you think about
announcing this for Saturday, 13:00, either in a room, or in
a common space?
