[Debconf-team] Mail about sponsoring to Debian consultants

Hi

As discussed at the last meeting I drafted a mail to be sent out to all
the addresses on the Debian consultants list. Unfortunately (for
Debconf, not for me ;-) ) I'm going to be away until Monday late evening
and I won't have time to send the mail. I have commited the text and the
extracted list of addresses to the debconf-team SVN repository. So if
anyone has some time to do this, feel free to just send the mail. It may
even be better if the mail was sent from someone a bit more known for
doing DebConf organisation and who can also better answer possible
questions. My idea was to also attach the sponsoring brochure PDF from
the website.

I took the text from the whiteboard [1] which has been reviewed by Moray
and Nattie. I just added one sentence about how much money we still lack
($60'000) as we discussed on IRC.

The current text is also attached.

Dear Debian Consultant

I am writing to you on behalf of the organising committee of the 2012
Debian conference (DebConf 2012). We are contacting you because you
are on the Debian consultants list [1]. We would like to invite you to
consider giving your financial support to this major Free Software
conference.

In addition to a full schedule of technical, social and policy talks,
DebConf provides an opportunity for developers, contributors and other
interested people to meet in person and work together more closely. It
has taken place annually since 2000 in locations as varied as
Scotland, Argentina, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year DebConf
will be held in July in Managua, Nicaragua, taking place for the first
time in Central America.

As part of your business builds on the work done by volunteer Debian
contributors around the world, we would be glad if you would consider
giving something back to the project by donating to our conference. At
the moment we still lack about $60'000 for the whole conference to be
covered. Sponsorship benefits start for donations of $2000. That
sponsorship level will get your having your logo included on the
conference website and in a "thank you" advertisement in Linux
Magazine worldwide, and larger donations get additional benefits in
return. We also appreciate smaller donations, if you can't afford that
level of sponsorship.

If you plan to attend the conference yourself [3], please consider
registering as a professional or corporate attendant, and paying the
appropriate registration fee.

You can make tax deductible donations through either SPI in the USA
(for payments in US$ or credit-card transactions) or FFIS in Germany
(for EUR bank transfers). See the DebConf payments page for details.

I have attached a document with more information on DebConf and on
sponsorship and donation opportunities for this year's event. Don't
hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions by
contacting sponsors@debconf.org.

Yours sincerely,

Gaudenz Steinlin
on behalf of the
Organising Committee
DebConf Nicaragua 2012
