Dear DebConf team, following up past discussions about delegations, call for volunteers, and call for comments, I hereby propose to you the *draft* delegation for DebConf "chairs". -- DRAFT ------------ DRAFT ------------ DRAFT --------- DRAFT ----- I hereby delegate the following people as "DebConf chairs": - Holger Levsen <holger> - Moray Allan <moray> - Gunnar Wolf <gwolf> The main responsibility of the DebConf chairs is to act as a liaison between the Debian Project and the DebConf organization. In that capacity, the chairs will be responsible to the Project for the organization of DebConf and how Debian resources (e.g. money, but also the "Debian" name) are used to that end. DebConf organization itself does not need to change in response to this new delegation and the informal DebConf team is free, as it has always been, to establishing its own structures and decision mechanisms. The chairs are expected to help the team to establishing those things and to break decision ties if and when they occur. --- DRAFT --------- DRAFT ----------- DRAFT ---------- DRAFT ------- The text says it all already, the role if of responsibility to the Debian Project, of (meta-)coordination, and for breaking decision ties which hopefully will be rare. I welcome comment on this and on how you think it will impact with other governance discussions which have been going on this list. It is my hope that the impact will be minimal and it will only add the needed accountability of DebConf to the Debian Project. I'd like to proceed early next week on this so I'd appreciate comments during the week-end, early next week. Cheers. -- Stefano Zacchiroli -o- PhD in Computer Science \ PostDoc @ Univ.
