For the non-native speakers, it's roughly equivalent to moratorium, and
slightly more equivalent to a temporary and revocable veto.
Over the past 24 hours I've agreed with various different positions in the
substantive part of this discussion, and have been convinced one way and
possibly unconvinced again after, so I'll let others worry about the optimal
way to resolve this thread. I do have confidence that any likely path forward
will be at least Good Enough™, whether or not it's optimal, and you're hearing
that from a chronic perfectionist. :)
