[Debconf-team] Status report for Quito's DC11 bid
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
As we all want to make our meetings more effective, here's a status
report for Quito's bid for DebConf 11. We spent 10 days 'hitting street'
and we have good news around.
Several people have already joined the local team. Last week we invested
some time looking for prospective sponsors. Of course, since we have a
year ahead, we don't expect to have a strong commitment yet.
We wrote a very preliminar 'sponsor pack for bidders' and we sent this
to prospective sponsors in academia and private companies, looking for:
(a) venue sponsors, (b) connectivity sponsors and (c) general funding.
We also cited past sponsorpacks, such as DC8's and DC9's, which are all
excellent material. Kudos to the localteams!
This was very effective. We got confirmation of 352 beds and two big
universities on walking distance of the beds (UDLA and EPN) sent their
preliminary sponsor commitment.
This also allowed us to lock our RC1 Budget (we already got a Draft) and
we believe this also rounds any sharp edge left from our bid. We'll be
delighted to detail this and address any issue in our meeting.
Thanks and see you in a while,
