Hi, this mail shall prepare our discussion and decision about sponsor levels for DebConf9. Having them is a requierement to update the sponsorpacks, which we need to do ASAP to aqquiere sponsors ;-) (BTW, Cesar, Anto: we also need some nice quality pictures of the venue and the city for that - do you have some? Under a free licence... ;) For DebConf8 we had the following, which is documented on http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf8/Sponsors ----begin dc8 quote------------------ Sponsor Categories DebConf sponsors are classified according to the amount of money put into the organizing of the conference. Each sponsorship level is defined by donation levels and by in-return benefits of sponsorship and appreciation for the sponsorship received. If a sponsor contributes with hardware or other non-monetary donation, it will be taken into account for the categorization. All values expressed in US dollars. Platinum - 30.000 to 50.000 Exclusive logo placement (and size) in all conference related material Banner in conference lobby Stand during DebianDay 45min Conference slot for free software related talk Gold - 15.000 to 30.000 Special logo placement (and size) in all conference related material Banner in conference lobby Stand during DebianDay Silver - 5.000 to 15.000 Logo placement in all conference related material Banner in conference lobby Bronze - 1.000 to 5.000 Logo placement in t-shirts, local magazine and website. Steel - up to 1.000 Logo placement in local magazine and website. Specific areas to sponsor - A day trip for all participants to sights and places of interest or recreation. (~6.000) - Party Night for all participants to relax, eat and drink all night long (~2500) - T-shirts (~2500) - Hardware, Hardware (borrowed) for the event. We will set up networking and need a few central servers for cpu-intensive tasks and networking equipment (switches, wireless access points, CAT5 cable, et). - Bags, usb keys, notebook locks, etc (aka gadgets) ----end dc8 quote------------------ For DebConf9 we should define the levels in Euros, should we just keep the values and exchange the currency? ;-) After all, everything gets more expensive every year and Debian gets better every year :) That would be: Platinum - 30.000 to 50.000 EUR Gold - 15.000 to 30.000 EUR Silver - 5.000 to 15.000 EUR Bronze - 1.000 to 5.000 EUR Steel - up to 1.000 EUR Adopting that to the (current) value of the US dollar we get: Platinum - 24.000 to 40.000 EUR Gold - 12.000 to 24.000 EUR Silver - 4.000 to 12.000 EUR Bronze - 800 to 4.000 EUR Steel - up to 800 EUR Maybe it would be better to rename them to: Gold - 24.000 to 40.000 EUR Silver - 12.000 to 24.000 EUR Bronze - 4.000 to 12.000 EUR Steel - 800 to 4.000 EUR Iron - up to 800 EUR Slighty different numbers: Gold - 25.000 EUR and up Silver - 15.000 to 25.000 EUR Bronze - 5.000 to 15.000 EUR Steel - 2.500 to 5.000 EUR Iron - 500 to 2.500 EUR Cutting down to 4 levels: Gold - 25.000 EUR and up Silver - 10.000 to 25.000 EUR Bronze - 5.000 to 10.000 EUR Steel - 500 to 5.000 EUR The renaming idea (as well as cutting down to 4) ;-) Even though I'm not entirely happy with giving a "45min Conference slot for free software related talk " to platinum sponsors, I guess we have to, as else there is not really much difference to gold - except that there is one. (Which might be enough given enough empesis how cool "platinum" is.) The above list speaks about a "local magazine" - what was ment with that? (There was also "all conference related material" - whats the diff to that?) We also need to come up with new numbers for the specific areas to sponsor: - A day trip for all participants to sights and places of interest or recreation. (AMOUNT TO BE DEFINED) - Party Night for all participants to relax, eat and drink all night long (AMOUNT TO BE DEFINED) - T-shirts (AMOUNT TO BE DEFINED) Comments? I'd like this to be discussed now, on the list and that we find agreement during the debconf9 meeting on monday. If we fail that, that irc meeting should at least agree on a procedure to finalize the numbers (fast). And, finally, put this all up on http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf9/Sponsors and into the sponsorpack! regards, Holger
