[Debconf-team] Minutes of DC9 meeting, 1 Dec 2008, 21 UTC

Minutes of today's meeting, log is here:
http://meetbot.debian.net/meetbot/debconf-team.20081201_2059.html

0. DC8-leftovers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Postponed because Tincho and h01ger and some others weren't present.
1. Meet the local team
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The local team was not present, César joined later. Postponed.

2. Press release
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though madduck would prefer to include a bit more information
than just the conference dates, we do not have any proposal to agree
on and thus no fixed/public timeline. Thus, the press release will
just announce date and venue and subsequent releases will follow
with more information.
3. Deadlines / timeline
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
See <[🔎] 20081201215541.GA11792@piper.oerlikon.madduck.net>.

Ganneff is in charge to prepare penta to open for dc9 on 15 jan
2009.

César volunteers for CFP, moray volunteers to help with that,
deadline 15 jan.

4. Website
~~~~~~~~~~
Postponed due to Tincho's excused absence.
5. RT permissions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
madduck notes it's frustrating to work on rt.debconf.org as
a debconf-team member and encounter "permissions denied". Joerg and
others hint at some information that needs to be restricted.
Anonymous users should have very limited access, but team members
should be able to do pretty much everything except for certain
things that are better kept private, e.g. admin stuff where
passwords could float about.

Ganneff maintains that people just need to speak to him to get
approval and rights, but madduck wonders whether it wouldn't be
easier and more transparent to just have admins and non-admins and
give everyone access to everything, except the admin queue, which is
only for admins. He argues that we are a team after all.

Ganneff agreed to investigate this coming weekend how to simplify RT
permissions.

madduck filed #832.

6. Wiki arithmetic check
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
madduck notes that the wiki keeps asking him to do maths for every
edit, and moray confirms that this has been a problem for some
others. Ganneff thinks it's a bug. madduck filed #839.
7. Any other business
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We agreed to postpone sponsorship discussions to the next meeting.

No other topics were discussed.

animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you --
daft as a bush, but very very ravenous);
