This is your friendly reminder about tomorrow's Installfest starting at 14:00! If you have a phone with you that may be able to run #MobileLinux : Feel free to come along and back up all your important data (!) Please note, that I'm still looking to requisition volunteers to help with flashing phones as well as answering questions. In terms of flashing I recommend that everyone also bring a laptop, to be able to do the necessary steps, i.e.obtaining and flashing the image. Feel free to reach out to me via (private) mail or on IRC/Matrix to let me know - whether you'd like to help (or simply come on by!) - you have a particular phone/tablet so that images may be downloaded in advanced Hoping to see you tomorrow Evangelos On Sat, 2025-07-05 at 22:58 +0200, Evangelos Ribeiro Tzaras wrote: > Hi, > > if you have a phone catching dust in a desk drawer somewhere, > it may be time to revive it with #MobileLinux (where applicable). > > There is a Mobile Installfest coming up, > during which we can try flashing *your* devices > to operating system and "desktop environment" of your choosing! > > > [FEST] > https://debconf25.debconf.org/talks/212-byophone-mobile-debian-ish-install-party/ > > [FEST] also includes links about > device support on Mobian and postmarketOS > (as those are the distributions we are most familiar with). > > The installfest > (last day of the conference; > but I'm sure if you can find me, > something can be arranged during the out-of-office hours...) > > Please note that I'm not (just) shamelessly plugging the event here, > but remind you to bring your phone! > Otherwise I would have to find other ways to make the workshop > not-boring :) > > *Do note*, that I'm also looking for volunteers (CC'ed mobile ML) to > help me out > with the hordes of people that are surely bringing their phones \o/ > Feel free to reply privately or DM on IRC/Matrix, > if that sounds like you're cup of tea. > > Disclaimer: > Of course this post was inspired by the Debian Installfest. > I won't be participating, but I hope that it will be a smashing > success > and that no negligence on anyone's part makes closer examination > of the liability waiver by the appropriate authorities necessary :-) > > Obvious Disclaimer: > Should you decide to try it out, > please back up all your important data as flashing a different > operating system > will inevitably destroy all your data but perhaps help slow the heat- > death of > the universe by a nanosecond or two. > > See you soon! > Evangelos > > PGP: B938 6554 B7DD 266B CB8E 29A9 90F0 C9B1 8A6B 4A19
