The other Colombian went by himself to the Mexican embassy. He said he wanted to come as a tourist. No papers were requested except for the plane ticket. One week (and no hassle) later, he had the visa in his hands.I am working with a Columbian at the uni, and visa are always a problem, no matter whether for vacation or for conferences. Nevertheless, so far, the Finnish have been the best about it, and we managed to obtain a visum from them in no time. That said, I agree... if you are allowed to, come to Finnland as a tourist!
Hmm, comming as a tourist, I should book some hotel/hostel in Finland and present the reservation to consulate. But, I have no plan to live in hotel/hostel. It seems me, it wont be fun to live somewhere outside HUT. At worst, I can book a hostel if consulate representative ask me to.
For now, I see no problem with getting a visa, just formal one about how to correctly fill in the application when I pay way charges myself. I know people who got a visa having an invition without a lot of paperwork done (this may be an exception to the rule, but I heared nobody blame the Finish consulate about groundless problems with visa), I suppose, consulate may make a call to Linux-aktivaattori to approve the invitation.
Anyway thank you, I have a time to think before Monday. Regards, Anton Martchukov -- To unsubscribe, send mail to debconf5-event-unsubscribe@lists.debconf.org.
