travel card vs single tickets

I'm now looking at http://www.ytv.fi/ENG/transport web site and estimate
costs for traveling in Helsinki Metropolitan Area. There I found that
single value ticket is more exspensive than value ticket loaded on
travel card. The difference is not so big, just 0,5 euro for regional
ticket. The card itself costs 7 euro, so I need to use it for regional
journeys 14 times to cover issue charge. There I also found that the
usage age of this card is 6 years. So, I suppose I still can use it
later if I ocassionly get to Helsinki again. Anyway it should be rather
usefull.

Could someone comment about this. Is a travel card realy such a good
thing (tm) :-) Did I miss something?
