my drive wrote:

I assume that 09 is byte 4 of the feature descriptor.
It would match: RENoSA=1 and format 0x31 is offered,
Cert=1 and 0x30 subtype 2 works, QCert=0 and subtype 3
refuses to work, Expand=0 and no format 0x01.

Seems to be not-a-bug-but-a-feature.
