You said Linux would schedule writes after too long a delay, not that it
were incapable to cluster. What's going on here?

Feed problems bit by bit to the wrong people? If you have concerns about
Linux's buffer implementation, talk to the people who work on it, rather
than wasting time passing bit by bit of information on the wrong list.
