is there a way to disable the drive from doing any media check and just writing?

No, because the drive hardware needs to be tuned by the firmware to produce correct results. But looking at the output, you also support 6x writing in your drive. I would try writing this media at 6x, since it's a supported speed. That's about the upper end of how fast you write a CD at 48x, as a data point.

It may be that the firmware indicates it can operate at 8x, but can't, at least with this media.

It seemed like a good idea at the time
