dvd+rw-tools-5.20.4.10.8: File is too large

Hi guys/girls,

I seem to have a problem writing a 2.7 gig tar.gz file data to a 4.7 gig DVD disk.
I'm using dvd+rw-tools-5.20.4.10.8.
The procedure I'm using is as follows:

/usr/local/bin/dvd+rw-format -force /dev/scd0     (appears to complete ok but doesn't seem to get to 100%).
root@server:/tmp# /usr/local/bin/dvd+rw-format -force /dev/scd0
* DVD±RW/-RAM format utility by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 4.10.
* 4.7GB DVD+RW media detected.
* formatting 99.2/
