dvdrecord is ancient and doesn't seem to be supported really. I'd
recommend growisofs (see
http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/) or cdrecord-ProDVD (see
http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdrecord.html)
