This bugs was assigned to the Debian website, not to "the whole
internet" :-)

Acronyms are already collected at webwml/english/template/debian/acronyms.wml

Example at http://www.debian.org/events/2003/1018-lit-dresden-report.en.html 
The syntax is  <acronym_LUG /> in the wml file, once processed we get
<acronym lang="en" title="Linux User Group">LUG</acronym>

But if the acronym is not translated in the main language of your
browser, lang="en" will prevent it from being displayed.

That is sad, isn't it ?
