No, the screenshot is generated by the graphical environment and/or the underlying display you're using. If you connect to links in graphical mode, e.g. though xterm and/or ssh, it will be the X environment that will host xterm or ssh that will take care of the screenshot.
Usually [PrtSc] will take a screenshot of the whole screen and [Alt] + [PrtSc] will take a shot of the window in focus.
Unless by "screenshot" you mean a text-only dump of the page, in which case "links -dump" will do that.
