That is the archive. You want the current images.

  http://www.debian.org/releases/

Select "stable" takes you to:

  http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/

Selecting "installation information" takes you to:

  http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/debian-installer/

And on that page are ISOs of images. I recommend the netinst amd64
image. It is a direct link. Just download it.

Using jigdo also works well. I like using it with a networked template.
For CD#1:

  # apt-get install jigdo-file

  $ mkdir jigdo-stuff
  $ cd jigdo-stuff
  $ jigdo-lite --noask http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/6.0.6/amd64/jigdo-cd/debian-6.0.6-amd64-CD-1.jigdo
  ...lots of output...

  $ ls -ldog debian-6.0.6-amd64-CD-1.iso
  -rw-rw-r-- 1 678428672 Jan  8 13:56 debian-6.0.6-amd64-CD-1.iso

For the netinst image same thing but:

  jigdo-lite --noask http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/6.0.7/amd64/jigdo-cd/debian-6.0.7-amd64-netinst.jigdo

It is still very much supported. But the Internet has no delete
button and there was much discussion of early problems that were
eventually fixed. How old are those postings? I would definitely
recommend jigdo when using a fast local mirror. When used on the
mirror machine itself it is extremely fast! :-)

You can use jigdo-lite to build any of the images that are needed even
though the mirror does not keep full ISOs around. Because of the
caching of smaller individual deb files it is more resilient to
stopping and starting.

A large DVD ISO it is only useful if you have the whole entire file.
Change one deb and the whole entire file is needed to be downloaded
again. Whereas with jigdo only the one deb needs to be downloaded
again. An incremental update is much faster using jigdo.

Who needs a graphical download manager? Simply use the command line
as shown above.

You have been railing against having a network but you require a
mouse?  That seems very inconsistent.

Likewise. There is no itch to scratch. It works. Software maturity
is a good thing not a bad thing.

GUI, GUI, GUI. Writing a novel with the mouse is like using a bar of
soap on a window. The keyboard is much more efficient. Take that
mouse and throw it away! :-)
