Approved Special Ed CPDUs Online for Illinois Educators
Dear Illinois Teacher,
**PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE WITH YOUR STAFF & COLLEAGUES**
CPS Educators can now take required Special Ed and other CPDUs online anytime, anywhere.
The Illinois Department of Education has approved Knowledge Delivery Systems to offer online, self-paced courses that can be used to satisfy Illinois License Recertification requirements (CPDUs). KDS has recently released a new course, "Aiding Students with Learning Disabilities," one of three KDS Courses that can help you meet the requirement for Special Ed CPDUs. (Illinois teachers need 20-50% of their CPDUs to be focused in Special Education courses.)
KDS, selected as the Best Professional Development Solution (2007 CODiE Award Winner), now offers a total of 9 online courses, including:
- (SPECIAL ED) Aiding Students With Learning Disabilities
- (SPECIAL ED) Differentiated Instruction
- (SPECIAL ED) Teaching Diverse Learners
- English Language Learners (ELL) / ESL Literacy & Cultural Awareness
- Classroom Management
- Preparing Students for High-Stakes Tests
- Building Educational Leaders & Strong School Communities
- Coaching & Mentoring to Improve Student Learning
- Discovery-Based Mathematics (with $69 Math Manipulatives Kit)
The price of each course will remain only $199 through June 30, 2007. Sign up today to reserve your spot on our roster at www.kdsi.org/Illinois
Schools can also purchase directly from KDS by calling 1-800-728-0032.
"SALARY UPGRADES / IN-SERVICE CREDITS" are granted by districts in Illinois, which set their own policies for Salary Upgrades. Chicago Public School Teachers earn Lane Credits applied towards the MA+15,30,45 salary steps -- ask at your district for prior approval towards in-service credits or salary points.
(KDS is IL-Certified CPDU Provider #50911183215058. Illinois Educators have already signed up for over 1,000 course seats in KDS Online Courses.)

COURSE DETAILS:
All coursework is completely self-paced and on-demand. Access is available from any computer -- home, school, or library -- and log in at any time of the day. Each course is an incredibly effective and convenient way to earn CPDU's at your own pace.
Courses consist of video/audio lectures with corresponding slide presentations (30 hours of lecture content total). There are no tests or required research papers, just interactive follow-up questions for your participation.
The timeframe is 3 months per course on a completely self-paced schedule. (NOTE: Most participants finish much sooner than the deadline.) Sign up for multiple courses to get an extended schedule (ex. 2 courses over 6 months, 3 courses over 9 months, etc.)
