The last message in bug #231082 was from 21 June 2004, so it's an old bug and it has nothing to do with this upgrade. The bug is still open, but if perl worked before on your system then I would think that it will work with the new version as well. At least this isn't a new bug that was introduced by the upgrade. Bug #283320 was judged as not being a bug at all and closed on 27 December. I have spamassassin running and don't notice anything wrong.
