Seems to be a generic problem with 2.6.x kernels.  Not sure about 
Debian, tho my keyboard was affected, I had to directly connect my mouse 
to the box vice using the KVM.

On Fedora with 2.6.x kernels and a kvm had to use kernel parmater in 
grub.conf:  psmouse.proto=bare (or imps).  Also, had to make sure KVM 
was switched to the booting box all the way thru including GDM and logon.

Google shows lots of KVM discussions.
