Problem with rsh/telnet/ssh

Hi

We have one router with Debian(Woody) that masquerades(iptables) a
192.168.1.0/24 network. If we log into this router with (rsh/telnet/ssh) and
then log into one computer (mostly with rsh) in the masqueraded network, we
encounter problems:

1.)Very often the connection seems to hang, but after ~10sec the connection
seems to work again.
2.)If we work on large graphics on a masqueraded computer and the X-server
is in the outer network, we very often become a message like this:
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server
"###.###.###.###:0.0"
after 2385 requests (2374 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
   and the X-program crashes completly

The router runs a 2.4.20 kernel(not the debian kernel) and the masq.
computers run a 2.4.25 kernel.

Any idea?

    Thanks
       Matze
