Its not the first time I've had the system crash during a screen saving session. IIRC I didn't even choose the package, it was part of another thing I wanted to use. Never again!

it back to what it was before.

There are generally no partitions Within single partitions.

Yes I realised this afterwards!  fdisk -l /dev/hda gives the correct listing.

I believe you should run: e2fck -f

I have done this now, to no avail. No errors were encountered. I'll look into the man pages next.
