RE: xfree86 and default font 'fixed'

I found some info that suggested using mkfontdir on all of the font
directories. I did that, and I noticed 'fixed' was in the misc
directory.

mkfontdir misc

gives a list like this:
mkfontdir: unable to process font ./9x15-KOI8-R.pcf
or
mkfontdir: unable to process font ./9x15-KOI8-R.pcf.gz

(it didn't matter if it was gz or just pcf).

I found a couple references to this, one of them being base something
other.

Is there a way I can get this to work?

Regards,
Jeffrey Drake

That won't work, it wasn't there before, I just added that in an attempt
to fix that. I probably should have mentioned that.

Try commenting out the last line, unix/:7100,
and try to start X again.
