Ooh, nice, you've got hardware problems.  When I got similar, but not
quite the same, errors it was because my power supply was too weak to
handle all the stuff in the machine (Compaq is too cheap -- only
110W).  It could be that your harddrive is failing and you should
backup everything you might want to keep and look for a new one.
