Oracle works fine on Potato!!! but you can turn it running on Woody by 2 ways:
A. (tested) On a mixed potato-woody box, it will work!
you should install following package releases on Woodyh
libg++2.8.2-glibc2.1
libstdc++2.9-glibc2.1
libc6 2.1.3-13
It's a hard work because you will have to recompile a lot of packages against these libc6 and glibc relieases (gnome-core, sendmail, apache, etc........)
B. (untested) Red Hat 7.0 had similar problems with Oracle 8.1.6 due to libc6.
VA Linux have post a solution for linked libc6 calls that Oracle attempts to pass throught.
Just try to adapt this solution to the woody environment !
