 yes, he will have to do this when he wants the card to be recognized at
boot time, however its easier, and requires a whole lot fewer reboots to
load and unload the module manually, trying different parameters until
it finally (hopefully) works.  once the correct settings are known, he
can pass those along to LILO, just as you described.
