What is the diff. b/w libstdc++ and libg++ ?
I was reading the documentation on the 2.3.99-pre8 kernel and was
checking the versions of various software required for 2.3.?? when I
noticed that libg++ wasn't installed on my machine.
Can someone please highlight the difference between libg++ and libstdc++
?
I have the following versions of libstdc++ installed on my potato
system:
ii libstdc++2.10 2.95.2-10 The GNU stdc++ library
ii libstdc++2.10-dev 2.95.2-10 The GNU stdc++ library (development files)
ii libstdc++2.8 2.90.29-2 The GNU stdc++ library (old egcs version)
I thought that libstdc++ were the Linux C++ libraries, but the
Documentation/Changes file that comes with 2.3.99-pre8 seems to want the
following version installed:
Upgrade to at *least* these software revisions before thinking you've
encountered a bug! If you're unsure what version you're currently
running, the suggested command should tell you.
[snip]
- Linux C++ Library 2.7.2.8 ; ls -l /usr/lib/libg++.so.*
There are no libg++ libraries on my system whatsoever.
While on the subject of 2.3.99-pre8, can Debian users who have tried it
comment on its stability (or lack thereof) for basic home-use (email &
WWW browsing under X) with Debian potato ? How about with Debian woody ?
One more thing, I am assuming that pppd-2.4.0b1 is in woody ?
Thanks for any info.
