XFree 86 on CL 7548?

Hello,

I've upgraded to Hamm beta from Red Hat 4.1.
I had X working with RH 3 and RH 4.1; 4.1's version of X is 3.2.x

I have a laptop (Samsung sens 810) with a Cirrus Logic 7548 chip.

After installing XFree 86 3.3 from Hamm, I get the famous lines

_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to xserver
xinit: No such process (errno 3): server error.

Actually, the screen blanks and does not repsond to C-Alt-<backspace>.
However Alt-F1 does return me to the console.

I am not running gpm. The XF86Config file worked with XFree 3.2; in
particular there are valid modes in there.

The first line of /etc/X11/Xserver points correctly to XF86_SVGA.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there an erratum update to xbase
that I should get from somewhere?

Does anyone know if support for the clgd7548 is broken in XFree 3.3?

Thanks,

Matthew Ando
