The /usr/doc Hierarchie
After installing several packages (~ 100MB) from the 0.93 R5
distribution /usr/doc ist cluttered up. If you think these are bugs --
like me -- I will report these bugs to debian-bugs...
Remove linux/COPYRIGHT, because there is copyright/linux, too.
Move include/COPYRIGHT to copyright/include.
Delete *.tex.gz from the lilo subdir (I think it's a good idea to have a
DVI instead of the TeX files -- the Guidelines from dpkg-93.70 should be
more specific concerning the allowed file formats (I vote for ASCII and
DVI only).
Beside ./copyright, ./examples and ./debian-$(version) I would like to
see there the same directory structure as in the source resp. the
deb-file distribution:
/usr/doc/base
/usr/doc/admin
/usr/doc/mail
and then subdirs with names taken from the packages (and version
numbers?):
/usr/doc/mail/smail
/usr/doc/mail/smail-3.1.29/admin-guide
/usr/doc/news
/usr/doc/news/tin-1.22/readme
Karl.
