Warum willst du SMART nicht für /dev/sda und /dev/sdb aktivieren?
less /etc/init.d/smartmontools und man smartctl legen es doch IMHO
nahe es mal zu versuchen.

Entschuldigt das ich leider erst jetzt dazu komme mich zu melden.

Ich habe jetzt in /etc/smart.conf folgende Einträge:

/dev/sda -d ata -a -H -l error -o on -S on \
-I 194 -I 231 -I 9 \
-m r.lehmeier@freenet.de -l error \
-M daily

/dev/sdb -d ata -a -H -l error -o on -S on \
-I 194 -I 231 -I 9 \
-m r.lehmeier@freenet.de -l error \
-M daily


 und in der /etc(default/smartmontools :

enable_smart="/dev/sda -d ata /dev/sdb -d ata

start_smartd=yes


Mache ich nun ein smartd -q onecheck in der Konsole

bekomme ich folgende Meldungen:

 hierbei sind mir aber die Meldungen

Error SMART Enable Auto-save failed: Input/output error

und

Error SMART Enable Automatic Offline failed: Input/output error

ein Dorn im Auge weil ich nicht weiß wie ich sie beseitigen kann und wie ich sie bewerten soll.

Ausserdem, wenn ich die Smartmontools am laufen habe möchte ich gern einmal am Tag eine Mail bekommen aus der ich den zustand der Platten entnehmen kann. Wie bekomme ich es hin. Ich würde es gern einmal ausprobieren indem Smartmontools mir eine Mail schickt auch wenn sie in Ordnung sind und später dann nur noch bei eventuellen Defekten.

Im Moment klappt die E-Mail Zustellung leider gar nicht.

Auch ein smartctl -a /dev/sda -d ata gelingt für sda und sdb gelingt auf der Konsole
