Ich denke /dev/MAKEDEV wird von einigen wichtigen scripts benötigt.
Leider hat bei mir die Erzeugung des /dev/hdc nichts gebracht, obwohl
# cat /proc/ide/hdc/model
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4040B
# cat /proc/ide/hdc/media
cdrom
# mount /cdrom
mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device
# ll /dev/hdc*
brw------- 1 root root 22, 0 2005-01-09 17:44 /dev/hdc
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /cdrom
mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device
# udevinfo -a -p /sys/block/hdc
couldn't get the class device
