Hier hast Du mal einige der kommentierten Zeilen meiner
/boot/grub/menu.lst - die sieht bei Dir wahrscheinlich ähnlich aus, wenn
Sarge grub automatisch installiert hat. Die Kommentare sprechen für sich
und wie im Kopf angedeutet, ist grub auch sehr gut auskommentiert. Wie
immer noch der Hinweis zu grub: hda1 ist (hd0,0) - der Rest erklärt sich
von selbst:

# menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8)
#            grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8),
#            grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub
