Error indeterminat a la base de paquets, potser perl? potser gconf?....

Estic amb un tema que em té emprenyat. Fa unes hores que he vist que un servidor que tinc amb Etch, em dóna pel sac amb un missatge bastant llarg, que comença amb un:

He actualitzat la base de paquets, he provat un upgrade, hefet un 'apt-get - f install', un 'dpkg --configure -a', he provat a intentar reconfigurar, reinstal·lar i el-que-faci falta a perl, gconf, i només em queda fer-li l'amor de manera salvatge damunt el rack....
Porto dues hores buscant pistes, i no trobo res amb cara i ulls. Hi ha algunes referències amb errors semblants, però cap condueix a una solució del tema, que jo hagi vist.
Algú s'hi ha trobat???
