tty2 respawning too fast

hi,

I just had my system hosed, but was able to recover in an hour with
minimal (? will find out soon if not!) damage... however I'm getting the
ol'

INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes.

Now I know WHY its doing this: my /dev/tty2 was hosed with the system, and
I don't know how to create a correct /dev/tty2...

can someone please tell me how? check out a dir listing:

crw--w--w- 1 root root 4, 0 May 31 06:05 tty0
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 1 May 31 05:50 tty1
-rw------- 1 root root 0 May 31 05:47 tty2
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 3 May 31 05:50 tty3
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 4 May 31 05:50 tty4
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 5 May 31 05:50 tty5
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 4, 6 May 31 05:50 tty6
crw--w--w- 1 root root 4, 7 Jul 21 1998 tty7
crw--w--w- 1 root root 4, 8 Jan 1 06:32 tty8
crw--w--w- 1 root root 4, 9 Jul 21 1998 tty9

note tty2 is crapped itself... note also how do i have the sizes (?) to
increment like that?

thanks,
Paul
