As I said, read /usr/share/doc/tetex-bin/README.Debian.gz.

Section "Note on update-updmap:" says:

,----
| - to add font package "foo", first put its map file, e.x. foo.map in
| /etc/texmf/dvips/foo.map
`----

This you do yet.

,----
| - also should provide a configuration file /etc/texmf/updmap.d/10foo.cfg
| which contains the line "Map foo.map" Note a filename should have an
| extension ".cfg" and it should contain "MixedMap foo.map" if "foo" is
| available as bitmap and as outline.
| Note 10foo.cfg should be a configuration file and be renamed at "remove"
| to something like 10foo.bak and be removed at "purge" in postrm.
`----

This is missing. Also, you have to call update-updmap and run updmap, as
described.

I don't know much about fonts, but I'm wondering why there are so many
more tfm files than pfb files, and why the fd filenames don't correspond
with the tfm or pfb filenames. Is this because the rest is only
available in metafont source format?
