But it has redundant dependencies:

Build-Depends: debhelper (>= 4.0.0), docbook-to-man, ruby (>= 1.8), ruby
(<< 1.9), ruby1.8, libruby1.8, libyaml-ruby1.8, libzlib-ruby1.8

Shouldn't by enough to depend on ruby? Or even ruby1.8, in case it needs
specific 1.8 depend?

The same for libgems-ruby1.8.

I mean, why specify a ruby dependency with a version indicating clearly
only ruby1.8?

At The Moment.

But now both of the packages are 'all' packages. libgems-ruby should be
an independent architecture package providing dependent architecture
libgems-ruby1.8 package.
