Looking at the buils logs, the fftw3 problems seem to be timeouts on the 
autobuilders, so it's not clear whether this is really a bug in the 
package.

Your long mails in the corresponding RC gem bug didn't include the 
suggestion to let gm build depend on an appropriate version of 
linux-kernel-headers.
