No, the direct link to the fund raising stuff is wrong too (we didn't even provide a direct link to the DebConf one on the Debian website, beside the fact that DebConf *is* part of Debian [2]), a link to one of the author's blog post announcing something new could have been suitable, but I can't find any (only a bunch of fund raising advertisements actually, it even seems weird to relay those on planet.d.o).
