I wasn't specific enough.  Press ctrl-apple-P-R combination during the reboot phase.
ie.  ctrl-apple-reset to reboot, then ctrl-apple-P-R until your machine boots with the
default settings.  If ctrl-apple-reset doesn't work, then you may need to power cycle.
