version stable</a>, Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q>.
Niels Thykier, membre de l'équipe en charge de la publication,

son blog un résumé</a> du processus de publication de Jessie, vu de l'intérieur.

La publication de Debian Jessie a été accompagnée de celle de
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-edu-announce/2015/04/msg00000.html";>la
la première édition bêta</a> de la version de
<a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu";>Debian Edu</a> basée sur Jessie et
de la publication de
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/20150429224658.GN4713@type.home";>Debian
GNU/Hurd 2015</a>, un instantané de Debian unstable au moment de la
publication de Jessie, pour le portage non officiel de Hurd.

L'équipe Multimedia de Debian a publié, il y a quelque temps,

un compte-rendu détaillé</a> listant les nouvelles applications multimédia
livrées avec Jessie.
Andreas Tille a aussi <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/04/msg00408.html";>signalé</a>
que pendant le cycle de développement de Jessie, certains paquets ont été
libérés, passant de la partie <q>non-free</q> à la partie <q>main</q> de
l'archive. L'équipe Debian Med, par exemple, a libéré
<a href="https://packages.debian.org/jessie/phylip";>phylip</a>
et
<a href="https://packages.debian.org/jessie/seaview";>seaview</a>.

Cette initiative a été mentionnée par Michael durant une
<a href="http://michael-prokop.at/blog/2015/04/28/glt15-slides-of-my-debian-8-aka-jessie-whats-new-talk/";>présentation
éclair</a> qu'il a donnée sur Debian Jessie pendant les <a
href="https://linuxtage.at/";>Journées Linux</a> de Graz, le jour de sa publication.

<toc-add-entry name="publicity">Suivi en direct par l'équipe <q>Publicity</q></toc-add-entry>

<p>Tout comme le grand projet qui l'abrite, l'équipe en charge de la publicité
est aussi une initiative internationale qui s'appuie sur des contributeurs, des
développeurs et des bénévoles partout dans le monde et dans presque chaque
fuseau horaire pour s'acquitter d'une mission particulière.</p> 

<p>Pour la publication de Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q>, nous avons fait notre
traditionnel suivi en direct à travers plusieurs fuseaux horaires et médias
sociaux, les membres de l'équipe en charge de la publicité se passant le
flambeau d'un média social à un autre membre de l'équipe de l'Europe aux
Amériques, puis à l'Australie.</p>

<p>La couverture de la publication a débuté plus tôt dans la semaine sur les
médias sociaux, et l'enthousiasme venant, l'annonce a été faite que l'équipe de
publication se réveillait, prenait son café ou son thé en préparation de
#releasingjessie. Le suivi en direct a alors débuté et s'est poursuivi pendant
toute la journée de publication, jusqu'à tard dans la soirée et jusqu'à ce
que s'élève ce message, entendu tout autour du monde : Debian 8.0 Jessie a été
publiée ! Il y a un nouveau shérif en ville. Et son nom est Jessie !</p>

<p>Bien que nous ayons célébré avec tout le monde l'envoi de cette nouvelle,
nous ne sommes pas arrêtés pour autant et avons continué à poster des conseils
et des astuces sur la nouvelle version, des faits concernant Debian et
l'historique du projet.</p>

<p>Nous avons beaucoup appris sur comment gérer une telle publication à
l'avenir. Nous avons réussi à travailler de façon dynamique avec beaucoup des
autres équipes de Debian et ces équipes ont travaillé également avec la nôtre.
Nous espérons que notre expérience nous aidera à continuer à vous diffuser des
informations intéressantes et utiles, mais en tout cas, nous espérons que ce
suivi en direct vous a plu !</p>

<p>
Neil McGovern a été élu par les développeurs Debian comme chef du projet Debian
<q>DPL</q>.</p>

<p>Lucas Nussbaum, dans ses dernières <a
href="https://lists.debian.org/20150416144719.GA28835@xanadu.blop.info";>Brèves
du chef du projet Debian</a> a déclaré : 
<q>Cela a été un grand honneur d'être le chef du projet Debian ces deux
dernières années. J'aimerais vous remercier tous pour avoir fait de ce mandat
une expérience formidable. Debian est vraiment un projet unique pour y
participer. La période récente n'a pas été la plus facile, mais je suis
convaincu que la publication de Jessie qui approche montrera simplement comment
nous avons surmonté nos récentes difficultés.</q>
</p>

<p>
Il a aussi félicité Neil pour son élection et remercié Mehdi Dogguy et Gergely
Nagy d'avoir concouru.</p>

<p>
Nous saluons l'<a

d'une délégation officielle pour l'équipe de valorisation.
L'équipe de valorisation, <q>Outreach team</q>, est responsable de la
coordination de la participation de Debian à des programmes de valorisation
tels que le Google Summer of Code et l'<q>Outreachy</q> (l'ancien
Programme d'ouverture aux femmes, <q>Outreach Program for Women</q> de GNOME)
-- mais sans se limiter à ces deux-là.</p>
<p>
Au début, l'équipe sera composée de Nicolas Dandrimont, Sylvestre Ledru,

Nicolas Dandrimont, au nom de la nouvelle équipe de valorisation de Debian, a
accueilli les 17 étudiants sélectionnés pour faire partie du Google Summer of
Code de cette année, deux d'entre eux étant candidates <q>Outreachy</q>. Ils
travailleront sur l'assurance qualité et les outils du développeur,
l'amélioration des portages et de l'archive, et sur des projets relatifs à
l'empaquetage. La liste complète des étudiants et de leurs projets peut être

<toc-add-entry name="LTS">Annonce du support à long terme pour Wheezy et Jessie, compte-rendu de Squeeze LTS</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Presque un an après la naissance du projet Debian Long Term Support (LTS),
et considérant que Squeeze LTS est un succès, <a
href="https://www.debian.org/News/2015/20150424";>il a été annoncé que
Debian 7 <q>Wheezy</q> et Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q> bénéficieront du support à
long terme</a>, en même temps qu'un appel à l'aide de l'équipe Debian LTS pour
du temps de développeur et/ou des financements pour améliorer et étendre la
couverture de l'archive pour Wheezy LTS.

à propos du portage de Debian GNU/Linux pour OpenRISC or1k</a> : comment il
est apparu, des détails sur son développement et enfin son état d'avancement.</p>
<p>
Quelques jours avant la publication de Jessie, Steve McIntyre a écrit quelques 
<a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/04/23#ready_for_Jessie";>brèves de l'équipe Debian CD</a>
sur les progrès réalisés sur debian-installer et les paquets qui lui sont liés
tels que : améliorations pour EFI, les images OpenStack, les images
Debian-live et les nouvelles architectures.

Juste après la publication de Jessie, un nouveau cycle de développement a
commencé et, avec lui, le travail sur les compilations reproductibles pour
Stretch, comme l'a <a
href="https://people.debian.org/~lunar/blog/posts/reproducible_builds_stretch_week_1/";>rapporté</a> Lunar.

<toc-add-entry name="bucharest-dc">Mini-DebConf de Debian Women à Bucarest</toc-add-entry>

<p>Une Mini DebConf avec des communications et des événements sociaux se
tiendra le week-end du 16 et 17 mai où tous les membres de Debian pourront
assister à des conférences d'oratrices qui s'identifient comme des femmes.
Le
<a href="http://bucharest2015.mini.debconf.org/schedule.shtml";>programme des communications</a> 
de cette Mini DebConf organisée par <a href="$(HOME)/women">Debian Women</a>
est déjà disponible et l'appel aux propositions de <a
href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen/Projects/MiniDebconf-Women/2015/Talks#Lightning_talks";>communications éclair</a>
est encore ouvert.

L'<a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen/Projects/MiniDebconf-Women/2015/Participants";>inscription</a>
des participants est recommandée et les organisatrices collectent des fonds
pour couvrir les frais d'organisation de la conférence et offrir un parrainage

Steve McIntyre
<a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/04/08#more_arm64_hardware";>a écrit sur son blog</a>
qu'il a reçu d'Applied Micro une carte de développement X-Gene pour
configuration et utilisation pour le portage arm64 de Debian. La carte est
maintenant gérée par l'équipe des administrateurs systèmes Debian (<q>DSA</q>) et
sert de
<a href="https://db.debian.org/machines.cgi?host=arm-arm-03";>machine de construction automatique</a>.

On April 25, the Debian project

stable version</a>, Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q>.
Niels Thykier, member of the Release team,
<a href="https://nthykier.wordpress.com/2015/05/02/the-release-of-debian-jessie-from-an-rms-pov/";>gave a summary
on his blog</a> of the release process for Jessie seen from the inside.
</p>

<p>
The release of Debian Jessie was accompanied by
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-edu-announce/2015/04/msg00000.html";>the
first beta release</a> of the Jessie-based
<a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu";>DebianEdu</a> and the publication
of <a href="https://lists.debian.org/20150429224658.GN4713@type.home";>Debian
GNU/Hurd 2015</a>, a snapshot of Debian unstable at the time of Jessie's
release, for the unofficial Hurd port.
</p>

<p>
As with the
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2013/04/msg00870.html";>Wheezy
release</a>, Michael Prokop
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/04/msg00382.html";>started</a>
the <q>New in Jessie</q> game, and invited all Debian contributors to advertise
their new packages present in the brand new Debian stable release.
He started with a list of

packages</a> and
<a href="http://michael-prokop.at/blog/2015/05/04/the-newinjessie-game-tools-related-to-rpm-packages/";>tools related to RPM packages</a>.

Paul Wise
<a href="http://bonedaddy.net/pabs3/log/2015/05/05/newinjessie-dev-qa-tools/";>highlighted</a>
some new developer and QA tools</a> available in Jessie.
The Debian Multimedia team published
<a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2014/10/msg00005.html";>
a detailed report</a> some time ago listing the new multimedia applications
shipped with Jessie.
Andreas Tille also <a href="https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/04/msg00408.html";>mentioned</a>
that during Jessie's development cycle, some packages were freed, moving
from <q>non-free</q> to the <q>main</q> part of the archive. The Debian Med
team for example freed
<a href="https://packages.debian.org/jessie/phylip";>phylip</a>
and
<a href="https://packages.debian.org/jessie/seaview";>seaview</a>.
</p>
<p>
This initiative was mentioned by Michael during a
<a href="http://michael-prokop.at/blog/2015/04/28/glt15-slides-of-my-debian-8-aka-jessie-whats-new-talk/";>lightning
talk</a> he was giving about Debian Jessie during the <a
href="https://linuxtage.at/";>Linuxdays</a> in Graz on the day of its release.
</p>



<toc-add-entry name="publicity">Publicity live coverage</toc-add-entry>

<p>Much like the larger project that houses it, the publicity team is also an 
international effort relying on contributors, developers, and volunteers across 
the world in nearly every timezone to accomplish a singular task.</p> 

<p>For the release of Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q> we did our traditional live coverage 
across several timezones and facets of social media as members of the publicity 
team passed the social media torch to another waiting member of the team from 
Europe to the Americas to Australia.</p>

<p>The coverage of the release started earlier in the week on social media and as
the excitement built an announcement was made that the release team was waking 
up and getting their tea and coffee in preparation for #releasingjessie. The 
coverage picked up from that point and continued throughout release day and 
well into the evening until finally the message heard around the world was: 
Debian 8.0 <q>Jessie</q> has been released! There is a new sheriff in town. And her
name is Jessie!</p>

<p>Although we celebrated with everyone else at the posting of the news, we did not 
stop there: we further posted tips about the new release, advice, facts about
Debian, and the history of the project.</p>

<p>We learned a lot about how such a release can be handled in the future. We were
able to work dynamically with many of the other teams in Debian and have those 
teams work inside of our team as well. We hope our experiences will help us 
continue to deliver you interesting and useful information, but in all we hope 
that you all enjoyed the coverage!</p>

<toc-add-entry name="dpl">Results of the DPL elections</toc-add-entry>

<p>
Neil McGovern has been elected
by the Debian Developers as the Debian Project Leader.
</p>

<p>
Lucas Nussbaum, in his last <a href="https://lists.debian.org/20150416144719.GA28835@xanadu.blop.info";>bits
from the DPL</a>, said: 
<q>It has been a great honor to be the DPL for the
last two years. I would like to thank you all for having made it such as
fantastic experience. Debian is really a unique project to be part of. The
recent times have not been the easiest ever, but I am convinced that the
approaching jessie release will just show how we have overcame the recent
difficulties.</q>
</p>

<p>
He also congratulated Neil for his election, and thanked Mehdi Dogguy and
Gergely Nagy for running.
</p>

We welcome the

of an official delegation for the Outreach team.
The Outreach team is responsible for coordinating Debian's participation 
in outreach programs such as Google Summer of Code and Outreachy 
(formerly GNOME's Outreach Program for Women) -- but not limited to those two.

Initially, the team will be composed of Nicolas Dandrimont, Sylvestre Ledru,

Nicolas Dandrimont on behalf of the new Debian Outreach team welcomed the 17 students
selected to be part of the Google Summer of Code this year, two of them being 
Outreachy applicants. They will work on quality assurance and developer tools, 
porting and archive-wide enhancements, and packaging-related projects.

Almost a year after the birth of the Debian Long Term Support (LTS) project,
with Squeeze LTS being considered a success, <a href="https://www.debian.org/News/2015/20150424";>it has been announced that
Debian 7 <q>Wheezy</q> and Debian 8 <q>Jessie</q> will benefit from Long Term
Support</a>, along with a call for help from the Debian LTS team for 
developer time and/or funding in order to improve and extend the archive
coverage for Wheezy LTS.

<p>
Freexian <a href="http://raphaelhertzog.com/2015/04/14/freexians-report-about-debian-long-term-support-march-2015/";>published</a> its report about Debian Long Term Support for March 2015, and some members of
the LTS team also reported about their work on the project: Raphaël Hertzog wrote

Now that Jessie has been released, a new development cycle has begun, and with it, the work on

<p>A mini-DebConf with talks and social events will take place over
the weekend of May 16 and 17 which is open to everyone in Debian
to hear talks from speakers who identify themselves as female.
The 
<a href="http://bucharest2015.mini.debconf.org/schedule.shtml";>schedule of talks</a> 
for this mini-DebConf organised
by <a href="$(HOME)/women">Debian Women</a> is already available and the call for proposals 
for <a href="https://wiki.debian.org/DebianWomen/Projects/MiniDebconf-Women/2015/Talks#Lightning_talks";>
Lightning talks</a> is still open.

of participants is recommended, and the organisers are raising funds to cover the costs of running the

<p>
Steve McIntyre
<a href="http://blog.einval.com/2015/04/08#more_arm64_hardware";>wrote on his blog</a>
that he received from Applied Micro an X-Gene
development board to set up and use for the Debian arm64 port. The board is now
managed by the DSA team and serves as a
<a href="https://db.debian.org/machines.cgi?host=arm-arm-03";>buildd machine</a>.
