Package: src
Version: 3.2.20-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I observe what seems like a system lockup when copying large amount of
data.

The amount of data transferred does not seem to matter but the time it
takes to transfer does.

I was restoring a disk image to a disk in external enclosure (sdg).

This involves reading some random files (the restore scipt uses cat,
ewh), ungzipping the concatenation, and feeding that to a program that
frobs the data and restores them to appropriate blocks on the partition.

About firtst minute went fine, then the system was totally frozen for
about 4 minutes, and then about two minutes it was _very_ unresponsive
but updated the on-screen picture a few times and allowed remote login.
Last 3 minutes of copy went fine again.

Similar results with dd if=some-dvd-image.iso of=/some/flash/drive but only
with some (slow?) flash drives.

vbox is installed (and the modules loaded) but no virtual machine is running.
