What's best quick fix for broken kde metapackage?

Ok
ccheney is MIA for > 1 week with no advance notice of planned absence
kde metapackage in Sid doesn't install
  fails on libkmid - libkmid: Depends: libglib1.3-12 (>= 1.3.12)
fails on libglib1.3-12 (>= 1.3.12) is not available
  fails on kdebase-audiolibs
fails on libkmid or libkmid-alsa ...

What's best quick fix for broken kde metapackage?
What's the best long term fix for this?
Do we need someone to do an NMU of the kde metapackage?

There are quick fixes, and long term proper ways to do things.
Right now _I_ want a solution I can do in the next 2-3 days.

Anyone have a suggestion of the best way to get a soln in 2-3 days?

Here are some ways to fix this:
1) find libglib1.3-12 on some server,
(maybe ask the maintainer of it for a copy?)
put it on some server where people can dl it,
people dl it & install it
  get libkmid & install it
    install kde (Will this work?)

2) Get someone to fix the kde metapackage in Sid on the dpkg servers
so that it depends on libglib1.3-13,.... and works properly.

3) Put a fix of the metapackage or libkmid package on this newslist
& let people dl that, & compile/make/? it into a .deb file,
& somehow get that installed on their system
as the package that will be used

4) Fix one of the metapackage or libkmid, and compile that,
& put that on this newslist so people can use it.

5) Create a shell script that does all the apt-get installs that work
  from the kde metapackage,
  post that on this newslist,
and people copy & paste that script & use it to install the packages.
(So everything but the audio stuff works)

6) Find another maintainer who can fix the metapackage, etc.

7) Skip KDE 2.2, and get someone to get a working build of KDE 3 beta
Not a viable option for a quick fix
    - would take much longer than the other options.

Letting this failure of Sid to install on KDE go on indefinitely with no word
from the KDE package maintainer is unacceptable, so, what do people suggest?

Here's some more editied info I got re trying to install kde & subpackages:

apt-get -s install kde
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
  kde: Depends: libkmid or
libkmid-alsa but it is not going to be installed or
libkmid-bin but it is not installable
Depends: kdebase-audiolibs but it is not going to be installed or
kdebase3-audiolibs but it is not installable
E: Sorry, broken packages
