seems like gnumach failed to detect your nic. See the GNU/Hurd Hardware
Compatibility Guide[0] for a list of supported devices. Can you post the
output of /dev/klog? There should be a line similiar to this one:
 
 hurd:~# cat /dev/klog > booot
 hurd:~# grep eth0 booot 
 eth0: PCnet/PCI II 79C970A at 0x10c0,  0  c 29 9a 4c d2
