Unable to setup network

Hi all,
I installed debian k8 hurd today. Installtion was fine and the system was up and running wonderfully. But I failed to setup network.
I tried .

hurd:/dev# settrans -fgap /servers/socket/2 /hurd/pfinet -i eth0 -a 192.168.2.163 -g 192.168.2.100 -m 255.255.255.0

and system returned an error

/hurd/pfinet: eth0: (os/device) no such device
settrans: /hurd/pfinet: Translator died

So I tried adding that device

hurd:/dev# cds /dev
hurd:/dev# ./MAKEDEV eth0

But the system responded with

./MAKEDEV: eth0: Unknown device name

I hope some one will be able to help me.

I've written about it in deatil at http://www.pravi.co.nr/2005/04/25/a-proud-gnu-user/

Regards
Praveen A
