autobuilder...

Hi all!

A few things to note.
I have set up a hurd buildd and ran into trouble. THe thing is running
fine except for sporadic misbehaviour. It doesn't seem to like me...

1. building dpkg:
checking GCC warning flag(s) -Wsign-compare... no
/dev/fd/4: /usr/games/sed: No such file or directory
   /dev/fd/4: /usr/bin/cat: (ipc/mig) wrong reply message ID
   4: creating ./config.status
   /dev/fd/4: line 10544: 2878 Resource lost grep . conftest.defines >/dev/null
   /dev/fd/4: grep: command not found
   ./config.status: /dev/null: (ipc/mig) wrong reply message ID

games/sed? This looks to funny to debug..

2. md5sum gives strange answers
   buildd@hurd:~/cpio-2.5$ md5sum < ../cpio_2.5-1_hurd-i386.deb
   0245ed715d221dfe766d6175452ecf59 -
   and under linux:
   rj@schuh:~/work/deb/build/ex/ardour/ardour-release$ md5sum < ../libpbd0-dev_0.0.0.20020807.01_i386.deb
   7cee5169a9567d8a3f5a4221c498b793
Note the missing (or additional) dash. That confuses dpkg-genchanges

I could work around that though...

3. I cannot unpack packages in my chroot:
dpkg sometimes quits while replacing some random file with "Resource
temporarily not availible". I cannot reproduce this at the moment
though. Yesterday it was giving me headaches.

4. building dpkg:
   buildd@hurd:~/chroot-unstable/build/buildd/dpkg-1.10.4$ fakeroot debian/rules binary
   test -f include/dpkg.h.in
   install -d /chroots/unstable/build/buildd/dpkg-1.10.4/build
install: cannot create directory `/chroots': Permission denied

it simply kicks away the first two components of the path! The real
   path should have been
   /mnt/work/chroots/unstable/build/buildd/dpkg-1.10.4

5. The andrea-files (source-dependencies) are all empty.
   http://buildd.debian.org/andrea/hurd-i386/source-dependencies-unstable.gz
   That doesn't
make it easier. I don't have my account yet. So could someone with an
   account please debug this?

6. After a build, sbuild simply sits there and does nothing:

   buildd 4659 - 0 SNo 0:01.34 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/sbuild --batch --auto
   buildd 4732 - 0 S 0:00.06 /hurd/fakeroot
   buildd 5242 - 0 S 0:00.81 /hurd/fakeroot

   or:

   buildd 4659 - 0 SNo 0:01.35 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/sbuild --batch --auto
   root 5385 ? 1 HNufo 0:00.01 /usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/sbuild --batch --auto

I don't know about the process states (SNo, HNufo). What do they
   mean?

7. I can reproduce Gratuitous errors!
   hurd:/mnt/work/chroots# dpkg --root=unstable -i /array/deb/debian/pool/main/g/glibc/libc0.3-dev_2.2.5-13_hurd-i386.deb
(Reading database ... 13207 files and directories currently installed.)
   Preparing to replace libc0.3-dev 2.2.5-13 (using .../libc0.3-dev_2.2.5-13_hurd-i386.deb) ...
shell-init: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: Gratuitous error
shell-init: could not get current directory: getcwd: cannot access parent directories: Gratuitous error
   Unpacking replacement libc0.3-dev ...

If you really want me to throw gdb at all of this I'll do it...

    Robert.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to have to paint it.
