I tried --debug.  It gave quite a bit of output but ended in a similar
manner to the output I gave already.  The script also didn't get written
to disk and I had to reboot my machine since the console doesn't seem to
recover (I'm guessing).  I need to get my second machine online to get
around this.  

I'll try to take a look and find something more concrete for you to go
on if I get a chance.  I feel a bit clueless at this point.
