I have collected two items that's been floating around.

* http://www.educ.umu.se/~bjorn/linux/misc/linux-history.html

Early postings in comp.os.minix about Linux, commented by Linus
and comments about the very first steps in builiding an OS.

* http://www.educ.umu.se/~bjorn/mhonarc-files/obsolete/

A classic flamewar, also from comp.os.minix. Remeber that
this is from 1992 when Linus was an unknown student and
Tanenbaum was already a wellknown and respected researcher
and professor in OS-design. This is also from a time when
Linus considered himself "the best programmer since Jesus".
Excerpt with Linus in topform and with an attitude:

  Re 1: you doing minix as a hobby - look at who makes
  money off minix, and who gives linux out for free.
  Then talk about hobbies. Make minix freely available,
  and one of my biggest gripes with it will disappear.

   [...]

   Re 2: your job is being a professor and researcher: That's
   one hell of a good excuse for some of the brain-damages of
   minix. I can only hope (and assume) that Amoeba doesn't suck
   like minix does.

I like it! :)
