Editor choice (was: VI reasons)

vi knowledge is essential if you have to deal with old sco/bsd/whatever unix
boxes. but max 5% of debian users will have to do that.

the essential for choosing an editor is :
we want the lowest common divisor - an editor that can be used by everybody,
and is as small as possible.

while i like vi(m) a lot more use it everyday, and i wish i knew how to use
emacs, the only editor i can suggest is joe.

both, an old unix hacker who olny knows vi or an old unix programmer who
only knows emacs could repair some critical files in /etc with it.

i don't know how to use emacs, and emacs user maybe don't know vi.

useing joe is possible for everybody, includeing the newbie comeing from apple
or windows or dos or os2.
